Last updated on July 2nd, 2018 at 08:12 pm

Our last trip to Visayas, one of the Philippines’ main islands, was indeed an adventurous one! We visited different provinces including Cebu, Dumaguete, and Siquijor. It was our second time visiting Cebu City. On our first time visiting this beautiful city in Visayas, we didn’t have so much time to explore it. But luckily, this time we had the opportunity to go around and explore its beautiful places! We really took advantage of this opportunity and had different activities and plans in Cebu City. It was super exciting and fun!

Quick Facts about Cebu City

As what I said earlier, Cebu City is located in Visayas, Philippines. According to Wikipedia, it is a first class highly urbanized city in the island province of Cebu. This place is really historical for Filipinos because it is where the Portuguese explorers first landed and discovered the Philippines. Currently, Cebu City is a developed place in the province where you can find many touristic spots, restaurants, shopping areas, and many more!

How to get to Cebu City?

Cebu City is easily accessible, and you can get there by an airplane, a ferry, or a bus. There are flight connections from Manila and as well as from different provinces and cities in the Philippines. Going to Cebu is affordable, especially with Cebu Pacific.

If you are coming from a province in Cebu, you can get to the city by riding a bus. There are buses going to the city (North and South Bus Terminals) during the day and night.

Things To Do In Cebu City

Most of our plans around the city were trying Cebuano cuisine, ha! We had time to stroll around and also go outside the city, to Danao.

Oldtown

If it’s your first time to visit Cebu City, it will be nice to walk around the city’s heart. There are a lot of Spanish influences around the area, visible in the churches and some landmarks.

One of which is Casa Gorordo Museum, a heritage house in downtown Cebu City which will take you back to late 19th century during the Spanish Colonization.

Another one is the Fuerzo de San Pedro or Fort San Pedro in Cebu City. It is a military defense structure built by indigenous Cebuanos and Spanish laborers. It is now located in a place called Plaza Independencia in the Pier Area of the city.

Meeting Followers

In the middle of our trip around Cebu, one of our followers, Cherryl, contacted us. She invited us to go around Cebu introducing us to her friends and best places to eat in the city. We surely had fun! We did many plans eating, going around and visiting the school.

Eating Cebu’s Barbecue

Cebu is quite popular because of their meat dishes including Lechon and barbecue. We tried a local restaurant and we loved it. We had cold beer and barbecue. Prices were really affordable and we enjoyed our food so much!

Trying Halo-halo

Halo-halo is our favorite dessert in the Philippines and we tried the best in Cebu City. We have to say that for 50 pesos or $1, that halo-halo exceeded our expectation! It was the best so far! You guys should try this dessert in the Philippines, or in Cebu City.

Visiting Malls

Rachel loves to visit malls and we always go inside malls in the places we go to (if there’s a nearby one). Ayala Mall is one of the most popular malls in Cebu. It´s great to visit around lunch time so you won’t feel hot outside.

Kan-Anan Restaurant

They serve typical Cebuano specialties from North and South Cebu. We tried different dishes like fresh seafood cooked in different styles- sinugba, tinola, and our favorite, kinilaw.

And of course, we ate more barbecue and drank more cocktails. We tried a special cocktail with salt and beer.

And after eating all this food, we swam in the pool and relaxed in the jacuzzi next to the restaurant.

Where To Sleep

Cebu Parklane is located in the business area of the city. You will find all the comfort that you need here, starting from spacious rooms, pools where you can relax, gym, and restaurants.

The Room

The room was big enough for the three of us. They provided us all the comfort we need. They also have a good internet connection which was good for our online job. Check out these shots:

The Pool

If you are an avid reader of our blog, you should know that our favorite areas in hotels are the pools and restaurants. In Cebu Parklane, we loved that they have an awesome swimming pool because we were traveling with our little one who loves swimming. Check out these shots:

Breakfast

For breakfast, we had so many choices at Manuel’s Restaurant. They have different kinds of Western and Filipino food like cheeses, tropical fruits, milk, cereals. A really complete breakfast was served to us! We commend their delicious mangoes which we loved so much!

Staff

The staff was really friendly and they made us enjoy our stay. We left very early in the morning and they prepared a nice takeaway breakfast for us plus they also did the wake-up call.
